Although of Tuhoe descent Bill spent his childhood in and around Hokitika, and spent time on the Arahura, the beginning of the Pounamu trail, with Ngai Tahu family. Bill spent years collecting stones, rocks and gum and with a background in engineering he already had the skills to become a carver.
Bill and his partner Brookey now live in the Far North where they live off their land and also run a business distributing pounamu from some of New Zealand’s best known carvers.
With his respect and knowledge of stone Bill has quickly established himself as a carver and has gained a great reputation. He spends a lot of time on his work and his stone and finishes are beautiful
Heritage Gallery is proud to stock Bill’s work
