John Ruth is a Hawkes Bay artist who creates beautiful, intricate paintings.
He is a humble, quiet man who is largely self-taught, but "stands on the shoulders of giants." John only started exhibiting about 12 years ago, but has painted all his life, and developed a style that is very much his own.
"I'm a landscape painter primarily, and getting out in the landscape is where I find inspiration. Tramping, climbing, kayaking and getting out to the beach to watch the sun come up in the morning - when I'm outdoors I'm always looking for something I can convert into a painting".
After a chance encounter with Heritage Gallery after a Simon and Garfunkel concert, John has used the gallery as his principal outlet. "Sandra is an excellent person to work with, a lovely person."
Johns exhibition will run until July. Come in to Heritage Gallery to see this incredible work, and take your own John Ruth original home with you!
Carole has long been a favourite Heritage Gallery painter. She is drawn to the colour and style of the Fauve artists and the influence is strong. If you are looking for strong colour, confident brushstrokes and abstract forms,Carole's paintings are all of that. Her work sits comfortably in an ld villa or in the most modern, minimal home. Her favourite themes are scenes of places she has visited in Europe and jazz musicians.
