Lost In The Moment - Hamilton Gardens

Lost in The Moments – Hamilton Gardens: NZ Landscape Painting. "I have visited the Hamilton Gardens so very many times.  As a young child I used to come with my very special Nana, along with my brother and sister.  We had so much fun wandering for hours around all of the beautiful gardens.

This Japanese garden wasn’t there when I was a young girl, but I now bring my boys back with their Gran and they spend many hours taking in all of the special moments spent in the gardens.

I have also spent time ‘Lost in the Moment’ doing plein air painting at the gardens and all of these occasions have been so wonderful.

So it is a very special place for our family to visit and spend some time making lovely memories.

I love layering my paintings to create the depth – so that you feel you can step into the painting and go on a journey to see what is around the corner.

I was drawn to all of the beautiful colours in this scene, natures beauty.

The main purpose of a Japanese garden is to bring serenity and nature into our crowded lives. They remind us of the natural landscape.

I always want my works to look consistent.  Six or seven colours are used in my paintings.  I am trying to achieve harmony within the painting and my whole landscape series.
