Collection: Daniel Wright

Daniel Wright is a sculptor based on Great Barrier Island, and his copper creations are all about his love for the ocean. Inspired by New Zealand’s marine life, Daniel shapes and sculpts copper into elegant, flowing forms that feel both powerful and peaceful.

He started out carving wood and bone, but now works mainly with copper because of how beautifully it bends and holds shape. He also uses chemicals to speed up the metal’s natural oxidising process, creating those stunning sea-green patinas. You’ll often see parts of the copper left raw too, adding a really striking contrast.

Daniel’s sculptures are a blend of simplicity and detail. He pares back the forms of sea creatures to their essence, letting the curves, colour, and texture do the storytelling. Each piece is one of a kind and full of character.
