“I was on the road at 3am this morning, crossing my fingers all the way from Auckland to the Desert road, that the mountains might remain clear for a shoot. I arrived pre-dawn and waited for the sun to rise into position, until the first rays of light created these long shadows across the ground. With Mt .Ruapehu on the left and Mt. Ngaruhoe's cone on the right, the early morning light & heavy frost highlighted the unique features of this wondrous landscape."
