Collection: Murray Garner
Murray Garner is a Tauranga potter.
He overcame great adversity when a stroke left him paralysed down one side of his body. It was determination to get back to making pottery that motivated the huge effort to recover. Despite some residual problems- he again makes the most beautiful pieces working with stoneware clay and firing a gas fueled kiln.
Murray prefers making bowls and bottles. He is strongly influenced by the simplicity of form and glaze of Japanese and Chinese pottery and this is obvious when you see the lovely aqua and blood red glazes Murray uses and the beautiful form of his pots.
