Beneath the Mountain

“Having travelled this part of the ‘Forgotten Highway’ the night before in the dark, I retraced my way back this morning to see what I might have missed. And as I reached this viewpoint, you can imagine my surprise as this dramatic scene revealed itself! With no time to waste or set up my tripod, I managed to steal two frames, before Mt. Taranaki (or Mt. Egmont in the old language) slipped quietly back behind the clouds. Quite a magical experience, but did that just happen?! One of those rare occasions when I happened to be in the right place at exactly the right time.”
